Jacked Up Trucks

Guideline For Building Jacked Up Trucks

Jacked up trucks are more and more popular today, so you'll see many more on the road than ever before. Especially in the United States where it seems everyone thinks bigger is better, jacked up trucks are all the rage right now. If you want to have one of your own, you have several options.

Make Your Own Standard Jacked Up Truck

If you like the look of jacked up trucks that look like standard trucks only a little higher and with slightly bigger tires and other tricked-out modifications, then you can choose to buy a lift kit yourself and install it, if you're mechanically inclined and confident that you can understand the directions that come with the kit. If you've never worked on a car before, this is something that you're probably not going to want to tackle. If you're familiar with the way vehicles are put together, however, it's something worth looking into.

Lift kits generally contain spacers that you'll install to lift the actual lifted truck, and there will be parts that need to be installed onto the suspension like extended shocks. You don't have to guess where anything goes as very specific instructions are included. But you do still need to know your way around a vehicle, and understand all the names of parts and the terminology.

Jacked Up Monster Trucks

If you like the jacked up trucks that are more like monster trucks, then unless you're a mechanic yourself, you'll want some outside help. Get a mechanic who's done the modifications before. Making monster trucks takes more than few spacers and new shocks. If you're building the truck from the ground up, it can even require welding and body modifications that take specialty knowledge and tools. Which route you take all depends on the kind of jacked up trucks you like the most and how big your budget is. Monster show trucks are obviously going to cost much more than just a moderately lifted truck.

Be sure to check with your local laws to make sure you don't end up the owner of a jacked up truck that's too tall to be street legal in your area. Not every area legislates this, but some areas do have restrictions and limits about truck height, and the height the body can be lifted from the axles or frame.

Custom Built Jacked Up Trucks

If you're interested in jacked up trucks that are completely custom-built, you can even find total kits that contain the main pieces and parts to build a lifted chevy truck a piece at a time. If you want to build a truck, this might be the easiest way to make sure you have everything you need.

The more expensive option is to pay a professional to lift your truck. This costs more than doing it yourself in almost every case, but as long you've really checked into the credentials of the mechanic and the garage, you'll be sure that you'll end up with a quality result. For safety's sake, it's best to use a professional experienced with jacked up trucks than to do it yourself incorrectly.
